In this workshop we’ll learn how to access the vital source of strength and buoyancy represented by the midline of the body: the spine. Learn how to use organ support and organic movement instead of moving from the bones and muscles. Undulating the spine and finding organ support empowers you to develop an internal barometer of the perfect expression of each pose each time it is practiced. This type of exploration can help students move more easily with the breath, massaging the spine during practice. All levels are welcome. Moving from the spine can create beautiful grace and ease in your poses and transitions. Note: this is a movement workshop but the intensity level will be low as we explore new movement territory. This is a subtle practice of moving through the layers of the inner body utilizing the form of yoga asana to unravel, or unwind the body-mind patterns that accumulate throughout life. Instead of directing the body into asanas from the thinking mind, you will begin to explore how to allow the body’s inner awareness to guide the movements spontaneously. This work is based on the teachings of Angela Farmer and Victor Van Kooten. This class is open to all levels of experience.
